SOUTH AFRICAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

OTHER RANKS,  GILDING METAL AND WHITE METAL.

1923 – 1961

The South African Corps of Signals  (Active Citizen Force) was formed on the 1st November 1923.

This example of the South African Corps of Signals cap  badge for other ranks is the same as the Bronze Officer pattern but is made of Gilding Metal and White metal and has the name of the Corps in both English and Afrikaans around the oval.

There is a Gilt and Silver Plate version of this badge which was worn by Officers.

Cliff Lord co-author of "The Royal Corps of Signals Unit Histories of the Corps (1920 - 2001) and its Antecedents" advises me that this version of the South African Corps of Signals cap badge was worn right up to the formation of the Republic in 1961, complete with Tudor Crown.
