SOUTH AFRICAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

GILDING METAL AND WHITE METAL,

1961 - 1974

This particular cap badge was worn when the title of the Corps was purely the South African Corps of Signals prior to the introduction of the name South African  Defence Force Corps of Signals.

Very similar to it’s successor this gilded metal and white metal badge has a cloth “Balkie” bar underneath and the more recognisable colours of dark blue, light blue and green which we know as Signals colours, and indeed are the colours of this Corps. It is not known when the cloth 'Balkie' was introduced but it was replaced with it's plastic successor in the mid 1970's. Once again this badge would have been worn on a beige beret.
