AUSTRALIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS

MATCHING COLLAR BADGES

As with the Royal Corps of Signals, the Australian Corps of Signals had been part of the Australian Corps of Engineers from the time that universal training was introduced in 1911.

This remained until 1st January 1925, when all signal units were separated from the Australian Corps of Engineers and thus the Australian Corps of Signals was formed.

I have illustrated above courtesy of Cliff Lord, a very rare pair of collar badges of the Australian Corps of Signals. Unfortunately, I have no hard proof that there was in fact a cap badge for the Corps as such until 1931 when the Scroll and motto Certa Cito was introduced. J.K. Cossum's "Collectors" Reference Guide says "Cap badge unknown" and Alfred S. Festburg's Badge Books says "There was a cap badge".

I have never seen a cap badge of this design and as yet I have never spoken to any one who has. Should any body accessing this site with any firm information that one exits I would love to hear from them.
