NEW ZEALAND POST AND TELEGRAPH CORPS

OFFICER’S PATTERN – BRONZE

 1911 – 1935

 

The formation of the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps was on the 5th October 1911, and was really no more than the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Department personnel in military uniform.

 On the 1st July 1913 the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps joined with the New Zealand Engineers (Signal Service) and became know as the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps (New Zealand Engineers).

 Although the New Zealand Corps of Signals was formed on the 1st June 1921 the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps cap badge was worn up until 1935 at which time the General Service badge came into use.
