ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS

68 INNS OF COURT & CITY YEOMANRY

 SIGNAL SQUADRON (V)

 1961 - 1993

The badge depicted above is that of the Inns of Court Regiment and the City of London Yeomanry from their amalgamation in 1961. The composite badge kept the laurels, shields and scrolls of the Inns, deleted the South Africa battle honour and added the fifth shield in the centre depicting the City of London Cross and Sword.

The other four shields are Lincolns Inn (Top), Inner Temple (Right), Gray's (Bottom) and Middle (Left). I am advised that this badge was worn by members of 68 Inns of Court and City Yeomanry until 1968 when they became a Squadron of 71st Yeomanry Signal Regiment where upon the conventional Jimmy cap badge was introduced. But as is mentioned elsewhere in this site the  Squadron wear a green backing to their badge when wearing a beret.

In 1987 The Home Service Force Squadron (348 Sig Sqn) was raised and wore the above depicted badge until its amalgamation as defence platoon 71st Signal Regiment in 1993.  This cap badge is now worn by The Band Of Royal Yeomanry (ICCY)
